| FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY School Profile www.feu.edu.phFar Eastern University dates back to the founding of the Institute of Accountancy in 1928 by a group of eminent educators led by Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr., then head of the Department of Economics of the University of the Philippines. With Dr. Reyes were Dr. Francisco Dalupan, Professor Antonio Aquino, Emmanuel Deymek and Clemente Uson, well-known educators from the UP Department of Economics.The Institute of Accountancy initially offered a three-year non-degree program designed to meet the minimum requirements for the certified public accountant examination. In response to the needs of the times, the Institute soon branched out to other fields of study, business administration, economics, banking and finance. One year after its founding, the school became the Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance (IABF).Earlier, in 1919, the Far Eastern College which offered courses in the liberal arts, ws founded in Quiapo. In 1933, the two schools, the IABF and the Far Eastern College, were fused into what is now the Far Eastern University (FEU).To strike out a distinctive identiy if the field of education, FEU designated its colleges units as institutes. Thus, Far Eastern College became the Institute of Arts and Sciences, while the Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance retained its name. In 1934, the Institute of Law was established, two years later, the Institute of Technology was incorporated.FEU officially became a member of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on September 27, 1938. Since then, FEU has enjoyed sterling achievements from its athletes. FEU has taken the championships in basketball, athletics, baseball, volleyball, swimming, tennis, softball and football tournaments. FEU has contributed athletes not only to national and professional teams, but to Asian teams and the Olympics as well.In its support of the UAAP athletes, FEU continues to provide them with scholarships, cash and non-cash benefits, and the best training and facilities.
